✍🏻 ALL LYRICS BY EME LATINA (2025)
Welcome inside my world of poetry! I am Eme, a Latina from Canada 🇨🇦
I breathe words every day, and contemplating life from something as simple as a vase of wilting flowers on the table is simply what I do. This song is a metaphor—whether you are fearful that someone important to you might forget you and you just “slip away”—or whether we lose our identities in the hustle of everyday. We are all flowers in life, blooming, growing, ever changing, until the day we wilt away. The idea of wilting is poetic: wilting can be death, or it can simply be emotional obstacles that make us feel like our petals need watering.
**A song I wrote while staring at a vase of wilting flowers… [60 min]
🥀🌹🥀
[intro – layered like soft exhale loops] whhhhh mmmmleaves and things and flowers [verse – Warm, clean jazz/R&B guitar or tremolo electric with reverb] There is something about wilting petals
All that beauty decaying
Slowly fading,
Back to the roots
Until only dust settles into the wood [Introduce subtle rhodes piano chords] [verse 2 – Background vocal line humming a harmony of the hook] You were much like a bright bloom
The rose in Beauty and the Beast
A magic spell and curse
I’ve forgotten you the least
(Pssst— ) You’re a part of me [chorus – Bassline enters: round, subby, emotional] [Kick on 1, percussion on 4+, snaps on 2&4] Keep me on your mantel
Don’t forget my stems
Water me sometimes…
I don’t wanna slip away
(I don’t wanna slip away) [Interlude – Floating synth arpeggio] mmm(ohhh) [Bridge – layered vocals] [Bolero guitar and soft triplet clave rhythm] [Emotion builds here — add low cello or muted trumpet swells] I handle your leaves,
Holding the evergreens,
You’re drying now,
Slowly dying now…
I wish youuu’d stay with me [Break – field fx, processed vox] whhhhh mmmm
(leaves and things)( and flowers) [chorus – Full dynamic return, add vocal melisma or pitch-slide ad libs] [Subtle distorted guitar to suggest decay/urgency] Keep me on your mantel
Don’t forget my stems
Water me sometime…
I don’t wanna slip away
Keep me on your mantel
Don’t forget my stems
Water me sometime…
I don’t wanna slip away
(I don’t wanna slip away) [Drop] don’t let me let me gooo [Post-Chorus – Stripped back: lo-fi keys, vinyl hiss, fuzzy tremolo bass] I hold a garden for you
My ribcage is your greenhouse
You have sun
You have water,
if I breathe you in… (mmm)
I almost go unbothered [Outro – Harmonies should be soft, tight, almost buried — like a memory whispering back] (whhh mmm)
(I almost go unbothered)
passing thru the hours
memories like towers
memories like towers
memories like towers
…
[end]
